AP Govt to take up new national highway works worth Rs 13,500 crore


The Andhra Pradesh government would take up new national highway works with an expenditure of Rs 13,500 crore during the current financial year, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said here today.

Naidu, who held a review meeting on road sector, directed the officials to submit plans on new road-related works to the Centre and begin the works, a state government release said.

He asked the officials to prepare plans to obtain funds from NABARD for rural roads. He also told them to examine the possibility of getting funds from the World Bank and the Japan International Cooperation Agency.

Naidu also said his government has decided to lay a 180 km long Outer Ring Road around Amaravati, the new capital city coming up near Vijayawada at a cost of Rs 20,000 crore, the release said.
