Monsoon covers Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal amd Jharkhand

Today Andhra Pradesh was covered by Southwest Monsoon. The was Monsoon has also covered Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal and some parts of Vidarbha and Jharkhand. Throughout the last 24 hours, modest to heavy rains have been observed over coastal parts of Andhra Pradesh. For instance, Machilipatnam recorded 47.3 mm of rain, Vijayawada 44 mm, Kakinada 5.7 mm, Kurnool 5.9 mm, and Ongole 2 mm. These rains can be accredit to the cyclonic circulation which is currently over Odisha and adjoining Bay of Bengal. The system has moved inland and is likely to affect interior parts of the state as well. By another 24 hours, rain potency will decrease over coastal parts of Andhra Pradesh but Rayalaseema will continue to receive light to moderate rain at many places. The possibility of heavy spells over the region also cannot be ruled out. So far Coastal Andhra has recorded 37 % surplus rains and Rayalaseema region recorded 27 % of excess rains. These rains will further improve the rainfall figures.
