India's probe into 2008 Embraer deal to continue

Manohar Parrikar (Indian Defence Minister) said on 25th October that india will continue to investigate ostensible wrong doing by Brazilian aircraft maker Embraer over the 2008 sale of three EMB-145 aircraft for India's aboriginal aircraft early warning and control (AEW&C) Programme. The investigation into the USD208-million deal will follow Indian laws on corruption and recoil subject to evidence, said Manohar. The statement was made despite the fact that the company had reached an agreement a day earlier with Brazilian and US authorities to pay USD205.5 million to settle a six-year corruption investigation into corruption allegations.
